Ryan Sutherland
A seasoned producer and technologist, Ryan has been engineering solutions for web and broadcast media since 1995. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto where he specialized in Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence. His innovative work has been showcased around the world, in theatres, online, over airwaves, at conferences, and in numerous science and heritage institutions such as the prestigious Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.

Running his own companies since the ripe age of 14, Ryan has devoted over 18 years to developing innovative media solutions. When the Internet first began, Ryan was working with the Canadian military to deploy some the first ISPs (Internet Service Providers), and began creating websites in 1995 with Industry Canada and Canadian Heritage for what became a Yahoo award-winning website devoted to the art of Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven showcasing the first use of Shockwave Flash for interactive cultural content in Canada. Since then, he has built hundreds of large and small websites around the world, and his software continues to be used by millions of Internet users daily.

Over the past 10 years, he has played a key role in numerous startup companies and projects around the world such as creating interactive group environments for Immersion Studios Inc., IPTV with Freedom Digital Inc., military applications for Meaford Excelsior, web publishing solutions with BC Pictures Inc., and new media advertising solutions via Nishe Media Inc. He has also produced high tech and digital web media solutions for numerous Canadian projects servicing The Canadian Film Centre, Bell Habitat, PaxWarrior, and Creative Source, to name a few, as well as international clients such as RC Group (Hong Kong), Cimabrands (UK), Bagua Group (China), Media One (Taiwan), Aruba.com, Passport International, and many more. He has also lent his talents to some esteemed charitable organizations including the Hospital for Sick Children, Ability Online, and Show Kids You Care. In 2002 and 2003, he was the youngest guest speaker at the world-renowned Banff New Media Institute 2 years in a row.

Since 2001, his own company, Interaxive Media, has been pioneering Web 2.0 software solutions harnessing the best of digital media and web connectivity. Recently, he has been spending time in Asia deploying his web solutions in the "Wild East" where the challenge of mass usage, language and cultural boundaries continues to push his experience and expertise to the limit. He is now based out of Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Toronto, servicing projects around the globe.
